Everyone needs a website, whether you run a business or you’re looking for work. Different websites serve different purposes, but they all have the same basic features and functions. Your website is a place for people to learn about what you have to offer them.
You want to make sure that your website has all of the key elements that people want. Here are some of those elements.
Useful Apps
Your website needs apps. If you set up your site through WordPress or Wix (a couple popular website publishing sites that are easy to use) you will have plenty of app options. You want to make sure that you are using apps that are safe and secure and won’t give your visitors any viruses.
Easy Layout
You want your site to have an easy to maneuver layout. You might even want to set up a content map so that people can easily find what they are looking for when they visit your website. You also want to have things that attract their attention, like photos.
You also need to make sure you have all of the right pages, from an about page to a blog (business or not, blogs are an excellent way to keep people coming back to your website). Use a font, font color, and background color that are easy to view, on computers and mobile technology.
About And Contact
All websites, business or otherwise, need to have both an about page and a contact page. Your about page will help people understand what your website is there for. It will explain to them that it’s a business page or a personal page, or that it is your online portfolio and you are looking for work.
Your contact page offers them an easy way to get ahold of you. Maybe they want to hire you, inquire further on certain products, or they just want to tell you how much your blog has helped them. You can include an email address or a form for them to email you through, and if you have a brick and mortar location you’ll want to share the address, with hours, and your contact number.
Shopping Cart
If you’re selling products or services on your website, you need to have a shopping cart. Not only do you want a secure cart (get an HTTPS), but you also want to make sure your cart has all the amenities that your buyers will be looking for.
Links
People will want to know where else they can find you and follow you. Make sure your website has links to your different social media pages, including YouTube. Make sure you’re updating your social media anytime you have a new blog post or something new going on in your life or business.
