The world No. 38 Austrian tennis player Anastasia Potapova spoke about changing her sporting nationality after advancing to the fourth round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Rome, Italy. The athlete has been representing Austria since 2026.
“I will always keep my Russian roots. No one can take that away from me. It was a huge part of my life. My family is still there, of course. As I said, I am adapting to a new country now. Everything is going well so far. I am proud of that,” Potapova said during a press conference.
In the fourth round of the Rome tournament, Potapova will face American Jessica Pegula.
