Spanish fighter Dani Bárez (17-7) faces a must-win bout against Luis Gurule (10-3) at this weekend’s UFC Fight Night, held at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. Both athletes enter the octagon with their UFC futures on the line, as a defeat could see either man released from the promotion. For Bárez, this fight is critical for his continued spot on the roster.

Bárez made his UFC debut in 2023 against Jafel Filho, coming close to a knockout before being submitted in the first round. He bounced back in his next outing, defeating Victor Altamirano by unanimous decision with multiple knockdowns. However, his momentum stalled when he faced prospect André Lima, who submitted him in the third round. With back-to-back losses avoided so far, Bárez cannot afford another defeat if he hopes to secure his place in the organization.
Gurule’s situation is even more precarious. The American entered the UFC with an undefeated 10-0 record via Dana White’s Contender Series, but he has lost all three of his promotional fights. The first came by knockout to Ode Osbourne, followed by unanimous decision losses to Jesús Aguilar and Alden Coria. A fourth consecutive loss would almost certainly lead to his immediate dismissal.

Beyond the Spanish interest, the main event features featherweight contenders Arnold Allen (20-4) and Melquizael Costa (26-7), promising an entertaining clash between two skilled fighters. The co-main event between Malcolm Wellmaker (10-1) and Juan Díaz (15-1-1) also has potential for a performance bonus, adding depth to a card that may lack mainstream star power but delivers competitive matchups.
Event timing and streaming info
